First of all here is Wishing all my fellow Indians a “Happy Republic Day”.

The day started pretty late today but in time to see the important and the most important part of the republic day parade at the Raj Path in New Delhi on television and I was pleasantly surprised. As long as I can remember people have commented on all the drawbacks about India like poverty and population, corruption and many other things but watching the Republic Day parade today certainly made me feel proud. I was very happy to see India’s prowess in Air, Water and Land with the Air Force, The Indian Navy and The Indian Army showcasing their best ammunition and the best officers. The parade made me feel that things are not as bad and they are very often projected and we are well on our way to being a super power. Now, if that is indeed a reality or a illusion; well we will know in the years to come!

As the day progressed I installed this blog and then a visited the local mall R-Mall in Mulund East( for my international readers Mulund is a suburb in Mumbai).

The visit to R-Mall made me realize several things– the most important one being the fact that India’s population is growing at an exponential rate and secondly we are catching up fast with the US when it comes to shopping.

When I first got out of the rickshaw the scene was not horrifying but still it wasn’t comfortable. Big Bazaar, which can be safely called as India’s answer to wall mart had announced all over in the news media as well as the television media that there is going to be a sale on several goods from food grains to electronics for the entire weekend and people went crazy.

There was a queue of around 500 people waiting in the line to get into Big Bazaar and they were standing there for hours to get hold of all the cheap bargains and deals. I asked a few people who were waiting for their turn in the queue and they told me that they were standing in the queue for 2 hours now and they were still excited because their turn was near. To be honest I had also gone there with a hope that I will get some good deals on several electronic items which I wanted to buy for quite sometime now but seeing the queue made me decide against it .

So made a quit exit and went to other shops in the mall and did some shopping although not what I had initially gone there for. But the highlight of the day was definitely the dinner which we had in a restaurant which we hadnt tried before. The restaurant is called as urban tadka and served the best food that I have had in years.( of course that is outside of my house). I obviously over ate; not that I do it very often but because the food was so nice that I couldn’t help myself. Now, I feel really sleepy but can’t go to sleep. Got to get back to work as I have to finish a project by Wednesday.

But will surely remember this Saturday for a loooong time.

Bye for now. Happy Republic Day once again to all fellow Indians.
